The BMG Building Committee will host a social at the home of Ms. Sandra Gray from 4:00 – 6:30 pm. This is the former home of Sister Yogamata, the first monastic of SRF. Paramahansa Yogananda spent many hours at the home during his early years in Boston. Several events of note happened here, such as the “Strawberry prophesy” described in Autobiography of a Yogi.
The agenda includes an opportunity to visit the room where we believe Master held the first flower ceremony in 1922, new research on the life of Sister Yogamata, an audio of a lecture delivered by Dr. Minott Lewis (a former Vice President of SRF and Somerville neighbor of Sister Yogamata), a brief meditation and kirtan.
There is no charge. However, your tax-deductible donation to the ongoing Building Project to establish a permanent SRF center in Boston is much appreciated.
Address: 9 Lester Terrace, Somerville MA is a short walk from the Davis Square Red Line MBTA stop. On-street public parking is available in Davis Square.
Please RSVP online, or by mail to Boston Meditation Group, 751 Main Street Waltham, MA 02451, or by email to bc@bostonmeditationgroup.org.
In 1988, the President of the United States signed a law that designates the first Thursday of May as an annual national day of prayer. The BMG will observe this day by conducting the regular three hour Thursday meditation from 6:30 to 9:30 PM. We invite you to participate by joining us at the center, or from your homes through your own private meditation and prayers. Our president, Sri Day Mata, has said, “In selfless prayer, limited human will attracts the all-powerful will of God for fulfillment of any need. No sincere prayer for good is ignored by Him. We can make this world a better place by our thoughts, our actions, and, most far-reaching, our prayers, uniting the vibrations of our goodwill to God’s divine love and creative power.”
The meditation begins at 6:30 PM, and the special service begins at 7:30 PM. Please bring a flower as a symbol of your devotion to God and the SRF Gurus and a free-will donation in a sealed envelope as a devotional offering.

A meditation will be held at 5:30 PM, followed by dinner at 6:30 PM. Please bring a vegetarian potluck dish to share. Friends and family are welcome. Indian attire is encouraged but not required.
Monastics will be visiting the BMG in June for an Outreach Event. The purpose of the event is to introduce and make accessible Paramahansa Yogananda’s teachings to the public at large. The highlight of the event will be an introductory talk for newcomers by a senior SRF monastic on meditation and the teachings of the Master, followed by a technique class. The event will culminate with a video on Master - Glimpses of a Life Divine. If you have friends or family who may be interested in SRF, please invite them to this event.
